Lost/damaged baggage

Air Premia compensates passengers if their baggage is damaged as a result of the companys negligence or fault during the process of transporting, storing, and managing baggage.

Things to check before reporting damage to baggage

  • ​If baggage has been damaged, you must report to Air Premia within 7 days of receiving the baggage.
  • ​Compensation shall not be offered in the following cases.
  • It is proven that the company had taken all necessary measures to prevent losses or that there were no measures that could have been taken due to a Force Majeure event.
  • Losses that occurred as a result of negligence or fault on the part of the passenger
  • Damage to the baggage that occurred as a result of placing items that are too heavy or too large into the suitcase
  • Damage to the lock during the security search or to the film by undergoing an X-ray
  • Baggage that is not placed in a hard case(delicate packaging container) or not packed securely
  • Light scratches, erosions and stains that occurred during the process of customary handling of the baggage
    Items prohibited from being transported as checked-in baggage

    The following items are prohibited from being checked in and must be transported as carry-on baggage.

    • Items prone to damage or spoilage; musical instruments
    • Pharmaceutical products related to health
    • Valuable personal electronics or data items, such as laptop computers, mobile phones, cameras or video recording devices
    • Cash, precious stones or jewelry, securities, documents such as contracts or theses, passports, personal identification cards, keys, samples or items that are difficult to appraise, such as antiques

  • ​The Limit of liability
  • ​​The liability of compensation by Air Premia for checked-in baggage is limited to 1,288DSR per person
    for international flights to which applied by the Montreal Convention and 20,00USD (or 250 French Gold Francs) per kilogram for international flight to which applied by the Warsaw Convetion or any amendment to it.

    • What is SDR? SDR stands for Special Drawing Rights which refers to a common currency unit designated by the International Monetary Fund. When converting the value denominated in SDR to a local currency, the valid exchange rate as of the final ruling date of the court is applied in cases of legal trials, and the exchange rate as of the date on which the compensation and damages to be paid has been agreed upon.​

Loss or delays in the delivery of checked-in baggage

  • ​If checked-in baggage has been lost or delayed, you must report to Air Premia within 21 days of checking in the baggage.
  • ​Compensation shall not be offered in the following cases.
  • It is proven that the company had taken all necessary measures to prevent losses or that there were no measures that could have been taken due to a Force Majeure event.
  • Losses that occurred as a result of negligence or fault on the part of the passenger
  • Loss of items that had been placed in the suitcase that occurred as a result of placing items that are too heavy or too large into the suitcase
  • Accessories, external locks or straps attached to the suitcase
    Items prohibited from being transported as checked-in baggage

    The following items are prohibited from being checked in and must be transported as carry-on baggage.

    • Items prone to damage or spoilage; musical instruments
    • Pharmaceutical products related to health
    • Valuable personal electronics or data items, such as laptop computers, mobile phones, cameras or video recording devices
    • Cash, precious stones or jewelry, securities, documents such as contracts or theses, passports, personal identification cards, keys, samples or items that are difficult to appraise, such as antiques

For items lost at the airport (e.g. check-in counter, near the gate, in duty-free shops), please inquire to the relevant organization at the airport.

  • ​Please make sure to bring the ID of the individual who filled out the report form when picking up the lost item from the branch office.
    (You may not be able to pick up the item without a personal ID)
  • ​Maximum liability
  • ​​The maximum liability of compensation borne by Air Premia for checked-in baggage​ is set at 1,288SDR per person for international flights to which the Warsaw Convention or the Amended Warsaw Convention is applied, and 20.00 USD (or 250 French Gold Francs) per kilogram for international flights to which the Montreal Convention is applied.
